En esta ocasión el sueño era reformar una antigua casa para alojar a huéspedes en su interior. Alyson es una enamorada de Vegueta, así que el lugar estaba claro. Encontrar la casa no fue tan fácil. Cuando hoy la vemos reformada, cuesta creer que no fue amor a primera vista, pero no lo fue. De hecho, fue la última de las opciones, pero les ha quedado tan bonita que cualquiera lo diría. No fue una relación fácil. Ya hemos dicho que no hubo \u003Ci\u003Efeeling\u003C\/i\u003E al verla, pero es que después la vivienda seguía enseñándoles los dientes. Fue una venta lenta, repleta de obstáculos, pero a veces los sueños que más cuestan son por los que más merece la pena luchar. La obra duró dos años y llegó una pandemia, el destino no quería ponérselo fácil a esta pareja. Además, nunca se habían dedicado a nada parecido. Ella es periodista y él economista. No todo fueron espinas, la casa poco a poco también fue regalándoles sorpresas, como el precioso entramado de vigas de madera escondido tras el falso techo. Intentaron recuperar la mayoría de los elementos de la casa y los que no, como las baldosas hidráulicas, decidieron replicarlas en Marruecos. Cada pieza tiene historia. Todos los muebles y artículos han sido restaurados y conservan esa huella del paso del tiempo. La antigua vivienda, de un siglo de vida, ahora alberga cuatro preciosos apartamentos independientes en los que disfrutar de unos días de descanso o incluso semanas o meses. Un lugar ideal, por ejemplo, para trabajadores en remoto.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EAl entrar sientes que escapas del ruido y te adentras en un remanso de paz. Es tremendamente cálido y acogedor. Muy alejado de hoteles fríos sin alma. Su propietaria es amante de la decoración y de Marruecos, y se nota en el resultado. Hay muchos detalles que te recuerdan a los tradicionales \u003Ci\u003Eriads\u003C\/i\u003E de Marrakech. La idea de sus dueños es que sientas la energía que ellos han derrochado en este proyecto cuando te alojes en \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/lacolonialsuites.com\/\"\u003ELa Colonial Suites\u003C\/a\u003E. Sus dos hijos, Enrique y Damián, también se implicaron totalmente en la obra; no solo con apoyo moral, también lijaron y pintaron muebles con sus propias manos.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EFueron fieles en todo momento a su idea, como con la escalera, tan protagonista. La ves nada más se abren las puertas de la casa y te acompaña hasta la azotea, con sus espectaculares vistas a la catedral. Tenían muy claro cómo la querían. Alyson la había diseñado en su cabeza y no quería cambiar ni un detalle, y continuaron con la idea aun cuando varias personas les dijeron que era imposible de realizar; siguieron y siguieron hasta que alguien dijo que sí, que la podía hacer realidad.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EEste maravilloso rincón de la ciudad acaba de abrir sus puertas y ya ha tenido las primeras reservas. Y eso que no están en ninguna plataforma, ni Booking ni Airbnb, solo desde su propia web. Basta visitar su cuenta de \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/lacolonialsuites?utm_medium=copy_link\"\u003EInstagram\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;para enamorarte de este lugar. Tanto, que ya tenían el nombre, incluso antes de adquirir la casa. Me alegra que ese deseo se haya hecho realidad. Y al llegar, la realidad fue aún mejor que la expectativa. Era tan bonito como en las fotos, pero además huele tan bien, sabe tan bien... que lo que fue flechazo a primera vista acabó siendo un amor para siempre. Recuerdo perfectamente cada sensación, entre ellas mi primera impresión al llegar a la suite 3, me empeñé en que tenía que ser esa y finalmente lo conseguí, aunque estoy segura de que todas las habitaciones son mágicas. Los amenities de Rituals y su increíble olor que inundaban la estancia y me \u0026nbsp;llevaba de paseo en mi cuerpo. Cada vez que los descubría en mi piel me trasladaban a mi suite en \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alavasuites\/?hl=es\"\u003EÁlava\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp; , en Lanzarote (qué fuerte, aún no les había dicho dónde estábamos, qué cabeza la mía), y ese aroma me hacía sentir algo especial. Hay lugares con los que\u0026nbsp;conectas\u0026nbsp;incluso antes de visitarlos. Me sorprendió el primer mensaje de \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mariaalava\/\"\u003EMaría\u003C\/a\u003E, ya una vez alojada (luego les hablaré de los contactos previos) preguntándome qué queríamos desayunar al día siguiente. Nos envió una carta para elegir, todo sonaba tan bien que no era nada fácil decidirse. Y cada tarde un nuevo whatsapp con nuevas sugerencias de desayuno para el día siguiente. Se convirtió en un ritual muy esperado, recibir el mensaje y elegir qué\u0026nbsp;delicias tomaríamos por la mañana. Incluso a mí,\u0026nbsp;que me encanta dormir, se me hacía llevadero poner el despertador, sabiendo que me llevaría a esos increíbles desayunos que María te narra con tanta emoción. No sólo te describe los\u0026nbsp;ingredientes, sino que te habla de su procedencia (siempre producto local) e incluso te cuenta que el yogur está hecho con leche de cabra ordeñada a mano, que el\u0026nbsp;trigo está molido a la antigua usanza, sin refinar, o que los huevos proceden de gallinas felices. Una parte mágica más de una experiencia completa e\u0026nbsp;inolvidable. Además, todo estaba riquísimo. Me quedé con las ganas de probar el brunch, pero siempre hay que dejar algo para la próxima vez. Un\u0026nbsp;brunch que, por cierto, está abierto también para quienes no se hospedan en el hotel. Como amante de la decoración, debo hablarles\u0026nbsp;también del estilo del lugar. De formas\u0026nbsp;cálidas y sencillas, cada mueble ha sido creado por ebanistas y carpinteros de la isla. Su silueta y sus colores se\u0026nbsp;integran perfectamente en el paisaje de la zona. Acostada en esa cómoda tumbona tras un baño en la piscina, sentí por primera vez la desconexión total en mis vacaciones. Una sensación que estoy deseando repetir. Ah, no me puedo despedir sin hablarles de los mensajes de María, que se lo había adelantado antes. Hace unos años, cuando paseaba por la ciudad, pensaba que Las Palmas de Gran Canaria necesitaba más hoteles bonitos, pequeños, con carácter y que cuidaran los detalles; esos a los que me gusta ir cuando viajo. Y no debí ser la única, porque cada vez hay más. Ayer visité el último en llegar a la ciudad y me encantó. Desde que llegas y mientras lo recorres, te invade una deliciosa sensación de paz que comienza en la cafetería de la entrada con su vegetación y el relajante sonido del agua, y te acompaña hasta la azotea, donde las vistas te embriagan. Creo que nunca había estado sentada en una terraza con una imagen así de la catedral. Y no es la única sensación que te acompaña en el recorrido del hotel. En todo momento sientes estar paseando entre obras de arte. Todas las esculturas y cuadros son del propietario, Miguel Saavedra, muy presente en el proceso de la reforma. Además, en cada habitación podrás disfrutar de un pedacito de la ciudad gracias a las fotos de \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/Leonor Saavedra Fotografía\"\u003ELeonor Saavedra \u003C\/a\u003Ey \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/pepaguerra.es\/\"\u003EPepa Guerra\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EEn las habitaciones, el diseño es tranquilo con la intención no solo de invitar al relax, sino también de no competir con la carpintería existente. Tanto el propietario, como el equipo \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/boissierarquitectos.es\/\"\u003EBoissier Arquitectos\u003C\/a\u003E,\u0026nbsp;encargado del proyecto, quisieron respetar y mostrar los materiales con los que se construyó el edificio. Materiales que, por cierto, coinciden en los detalles de cantería y carpintería con el Hotel Santa Catalina, ya que Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre diseñó el edificio que ahora alberga Suites 1948 a la vez que desarrollaba el proyecto del hotel. Entre los materiales destaca la piedra utilizada, una rosa silva, una piedra local de la Cantería de Arucas.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EEl hotel cuenta, además, con un delicioso restaurante, mezcla de café europeo con mesas de mármol y tapizados de terciopelo, y bar colonial donde los protagonistas son la vegetación y la madera. Así, no solo los clientes que se alojan podrán disfrutar de este nuevo espacio de Vegueta, sino también todos los que vivimos aquí. Ayer lo pude probar y es un lugar muy agradable para desayunar o almorzar. Chic\u003C\/a\u003E, uno de los hoteles que siempre recomiendo cuando alguien visita Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Ya había estado varias veces en el edificio anterior, pero nunca había visitado las nuevas habitaciones desde que ampliaron con el inmueble de al lado. La visita, como imaginaba, no me defraudó. El estilo de su decoración mantiene su sello de siempre, basado en la belleza de la sencillez y la combinación de la madera de pino con muebles antiguos restaurados. Aunque en esta ocasión, había una sorpresa. El nuevo edificio, de principios de los 30, conservaba los suelos hidráulicos artesanales originales. Mantenerlos en el hotel no fue fácil y requirió algo de esfuerzo y trabajo, pero sin duda, mereció la pena. Esos suelos son una maravilla. Para las propietarias de este hotel boutique una de las reformas más importantes fue bajar la recepción a pie de calle (antes estaba en una primera planta). Ahora se sienten más cerca de sus clientes. Desean que se sientan como en casa y y para eso, quieren escucharles. Además, pensando en ellos, también han abierto una cafetería, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lacatalinalpa\/?fref=ts\"\u003ELa Catalina\u003C\/a\u003E, en la parte inferior donde puedan desayunar o tomarse algo durante el día. Y en la terraza, una mágica azotea, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/El-Tendedero-de-Catalina-393783204149170\/?fref=ts\"\u003EEl Tendedero de Catalina,\u003C\/a\u003E donde tomar el brunch o un coctel con vistas al Parque Santa Catalina y al puerto. Este bed and breakfast situado en Ciudad Jardín, en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, tiene su toque. Ella se encargó de gran parte de la decoración y ha hecho un trabajo fantástico. Fue un placer recorrer cada una de sus estancias de la mano de mi querida Manuela, no puede haber una anfitriona mejor. Felicidades al propietario por ambas elecciones y por la idea de convertir esta preciosa casa en un hotel.
